Nine Stony Brook Students Receive Prestigious Fulbright Scholarships

Mentors: Troy Rasbury, Katie Wooton, Gregory Henkes, Daniel Davis, Lars Ehm, William Holt, and the rest of the Department of Geosciences

Hatton was selected for a Fulbright Research Award to Sweden. He will be researching the formation of critical ore deposits at Stockholm University with Dr. Iain Pitcairn. The goal is to predict where important ore deposits (Cu, Pb, Zn, La, Co, Y and Rare Earth Elements) occur, allowing for precisely targeted extractions making the process less invasive and more ecofriendly.

Hatton will be pursuing a PhD at Stony Brook. Previous honors include Oliver Schaeffer Endowed Memorial Scholarship, GEOPATH, STEM ASSETS, AIPG Student Essay Scholarship.
