Nine Stony Brook Students Receive Prestigious Fulbright Scholarships

Degree: 2019 BA in English with Secondary Education 7-12

Departmental advisors/research mentors: Nicole Galante, Patricia Dunn, Walter Fishon

Acosta was selected for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to South Korea. She plans to work with the community by creating a video exchange series in which she helps students create videos showcasing their own “Slices of Korea.” These videos will be an inside look into their favorite customs and locations in South Korea. In exchange, she will display her own videos of life as a Dominican-American woman living in New York. She will ask her friends to create their own “Slices of America” to present the diversity that surrounds the country.
