The 3D printers in Stony Brook University’s Innovation Lab are creating medical devices of the future. Medical Daily, which covers the latest health news, scientific trends, and medical information, visited the Lab in the College of Business and saw students creating prosthetics and sound amplifiers that would cost much less than those currently on the market. The Lab is featured in Medical Daily along with the following video.
The 1,200-square-foot Innovation Lab, located in Harriman Hall, Room 210, is filled with 3D printers, green screens, video cameras, computers, vinyl cutters and even a sewing machine. The space opened in February 2015 and gives inventive students a place to explore their creative nature while it teaches them necessary skills through a series of workshops on different types of equipment and programs used by inventors. It is a place in which innovators from all over campus can collaborate to develop ideas into actual products.
The Lab has also been featured in Innovate LI. For more information, email sbuinnovationlab@stonybrook.edu or like them on Facebook.
