Stony Brook University’s award-winning faculty were recently honored at the 21st annual Faculty Achievement Dinner. The dinner, hosted by the Office of the Provost, paid tribute to distinguished faculty who have received prestigious awards from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. These awards recognize SBU’s world-renowned faculty for teaching, research and scholarly excellence.

President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD, and Dennis N. Assanis, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Brookhaven Affairs, welcomed many of the 73 honorees to the Old Field Club to highlight their accomplishments. In addition, two honorees — Patricia Wright, Professor of Biological Anthropology, and Meave Leakey, renowned anthropologist and research professor in the Department of Anthropology and the Turkana Basin Institute — shared details on the work that resulted in their awards.
