SBU’s Rowan Ricardo Phillips’ Poetry Featured in “New Yorker”

Rowan Ricardo Phillips, an associate professor of English and director of the Poetry Center at Stony Brook University, has a poem from his new book, Heaven (Farrar, Straus and Giroux: May 2015), featured in The New Yorker.

Phillips is the author of The Ground: Poems (2012) and the critical volume When Blackness Rhymes with Blackness (2010). He received a 2013 Whiting Writers’ Award, the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award and the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award for Poetry. Phillips is a judge for this year’s National Book Award for Poetry; winners will be announced on November 19.
