On November 8, 2018, President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD and Provost Michael A. Bernstein hosted the Annual Awards Dinner to celebrate faculty achievements and the recipients of Chancellor’s Awards and Distinguished Professorships for 2017. More than 100 faculty and staff were honored.
“Of all the privileges that come with serving as President, one of my favorites is to acknowledge our annual awardees,” President Stanley said as he welcomed the honorees, “for without your dedication to your fields and our students, we would not be one of the top public research universities in the country. In fact, we were recently ranked #80 among U.S. colleges and universities by U.S. News & World Report, the highest ranking in the University’s history, and we owe much of that success to you.”

After the President’s welcome, Provost Bernstein and the Deans of each college took turns honoring their faculty before the President returned to the podium to acknowledge the 2017 appointments to Distinguished Faculty and the 2018 recipients of the Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence.
