The acclaimed documentary adventure film Island of Lemurs: Madagascar, featuring the award-winning Stony Brook primatologist Dr. Patricia Wright, will open in theaters across the US beginning August 22.

The movie, narrated by renowned Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman, is filmed in IMAX® 3D and showcases the groundbreaking work of Dr. Wright, a Professor of Anthropology at Stony Brook University and founder of Centre ValBio, a research campus located in the rainforest of Madagascar.

Island of Lemurs: Madagascar “brings IMAX 3D cameras to perhaps the most compelling region for wildlife on the planet, capturing this environment in the clearest, most vibrant way possible,” said Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment.

Dr. Wright recently received the prestigious Indianapolis Prize for her heroic and selfless dedication to protecting the lemurs, ecosystems and people of Madagascar. Most recently, Wright has authored the book High Moon Over the Amazon: My Quest to Understand the Monkeys of the Night.
