Fred S. Sganga, executive director of the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook University, will be a distinguished honoree at The Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s (WMHO) annual “Jewels and Jeans” dinner on Tuesday, June 24, at Flowerfield in St. James. The celebratory evening honors individuals that have made outstanding achievements in community service to Long Island.
Festivities begin at 6:30 pm with a cocktail hour followed by dinner, dancing, music, raffles, a photo booth, and live and silent auctions. Chef Barret Beyer from Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Casino will give a cocktail-hour cooking demonstration and is also part of an impressive list of live auction items.
Proceeds from the dinner will benefit WMHO’s educational programs, Youth Corps and help fund repairs to WMHO’s historic properties. For reservations call (631) 751-2244 or visit wmho.org for more details.
