Kashif J. Piracha, MBBS, FACP, FNKF, a second-year fellow in the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension at Stony Brook University Hospital, has been elected a Fellow of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). This honor and distinction is conferred upon Dr. Piracha in recognition of his service in and dedication to promoting the mission of the National Kidney Foundation. During the past six months, Dr. Piracha has been volunteering actively as a physician consultant at NKF’s Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) Healthy screenings in New York.
The National Kidney Foundation is a major voluntary health organization in the United States, headquartered in New York City with more than 30 local offices across the country. Its mission is to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation. KEEP Healthy is NKF’s community-based initiative to educate about the kidneys, risk factors for kidney disease and steps to take to keep kidneys healthy and reduce risk.
