CBS “Sunday Morning” Features Alan Alda, Center for Communicating Science

The CBS television news show “Sunday Morning” aired an April 21 report spotlighting renowned television actor Alan Alda and his work with Stony Brook University’s Center for Communicating Science.

Affiliated with the School of Journalism, the Center for Communicating Science works to enhance understanding of science by helping train the next generation of scientists and health professionals to communicate more effectively with the public, public officials, the media, and others outside their own discipline.

Alda, who will be honored at the annual “Stars of Stony Brook” gala fundraiser April 24, played a central role in creating the Center and uses skills developed during his distinguished acting career to impart communications skills to scientists and other researchers.

The report is summarized on the CBS News website.
