EduStyle honors Stony Brook University.

Stony Brook’s recently redesigned Undergraduate Admissions website has been honored as Best Admissions Site by EduStyle.

The University was honored both by a judges’ panel and by online voters as a “People’s Choice.”

EduStyle, founded in 2007, is an online web design resource dedicated to higher education websites and powered by higher education web design professionals. It publishes books and reports on web design and is widely respected as a thought leader in the field of higher ed web design.

“Web design professionals in higher ed see this as the most desirable award in the business,” said Jacob Levich, Director of University Web Content. “You’re being recognized by a highly sophisticated and experienced set of peers.”

The website is the product of a close collaboration between the Offices of Communications and Admissions. “We’re thrilled with the results, and so are our prospective students,” said Stefan Hyman, Assistant Provost for Enrollment Strategies, Communications and Analytics. “The award is testimony to the value of teamwork.”

The site was designed to be responsive; i.e., it was created to render equally well on desktop machines, tablets, and mobile phones.

“Many of our students, especially those from less advantaged socioeconomic backgrounds, now rely on mobile devices as a primary source of internet access,” Hyman noted.

Levich said credit is due to designer Loren Moss Meyer, production coordinator Lynn Zawie and web developer Josh Palmeri, who worked together to bring the new site to life.

The prestigious eduStyle Higher Ed Web Awards celebrate the best work in college and university websites. This year 18 categories recognized the most innovative and exciting developments in key areas of higher education web development.
