A Stony Brook Love Story

Wolfie valentines
valentines
SBU staff member Christopher Heedles and alumna Marina Deletrain got engaged with the help of Wolfie.

Although Christopher Heedles and his fiancee Marina Deletrain have known each other since high school, they did not start dating until three years ago. They ran into each other on a night out and have been together ever since.

Marina is a Stony Brook University alumni, having graduated in 2011 with a degree in psychology, and is a guidance counselor at a school in Queens. When she learned that Chris would begin working at Stony Brook in the Disability Support Services department, she was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to visit him at work, just to revisit her memories on campus. As a Seawolf for Life, she loves her alma mater and cherishes her college experience at SBU.

When Chris decided that he wanted to propose, he thought what better way than a “scavenger hunt” puzzle that incorporated SBU?

The fun scavenger hunt provided her with some clues:

Clue 1   Breakfast with her sister
Clue 2   Get her nails done
wolfie valentines
Clue 3   Get her hair done
Clue 4   Go shopping for a dress
Clue 5   Go outside of the Staller Center to find Wolfie, who was wearing his best tuxedo
Clue 6   Grab a drink to calm nerves
Clue 7   Find Chris at Stony Brook Harbor, where he would “pop the question”

When asked about how the proposal went, Chris said, “The day was perfect, and Wolfie made it that much sweeter.”

Happy Valentine’s Day, Seawolves!
