SBU Marches in 2016 NYC Pride Parade

Pride parade 1

Pride ParadeMore than 90 members of the Stony Brook University community, including students, alumni, faculty and staff, marched together on June 26 as part of the SUNY contingency to celebrate the LGBTQ community and express solidarity for the victims in Orlando.

The SUNY float had more than 300 representatives from many SUNY institutions that marched to the rhythm of the Stony Brook Marching Band. The Band played popular songs that tied in the theme of inclusion and acceptance — “We R Who We R” by Ke$ha and “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga — and the Color Guard featured flags in the colors of the rainbow.

This year’s NYC Pride Parade was the biggest ever with a record 32,000 participants.
