Stony Brook University students can reserve a free seat on the fan bus bound for Boston on March 12, Saturday morning, to watch the men’s basketball team tip off against Boston University at noon in the America East Championship title game for the right to go to the NCAA Tournament.
Sixth-year Stony Brook men’s basketball coach Steve Pikiell said, “Your spirit and enthusiasm last weekend at the America East Conference Tournament helped us achieve something never before accomplished in the history of our program—a spot in the America East Championship game. You have helped us get this far and we need you on Saturday.”
The game will be broadcast by ESPN2 on national television and students are encouraged to wear red and get loud in Boston University’s Agganis Arena.
“When we play well we can play anybody,” said Pikiell. And when you go on the road you have to play well. I have a lot of confidence in my team.”
In addition to a free seat on the bus students will also be guaranteed breakfast and a special tournament t-shirt.
There will also be a fan bus for faculty, staff, friends, and alumni on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are $50 for bus and game or $25 for game only.
