By Shawn Heilbron
Director of Athletics, Stony Brook University
When I accepted the position of Director of Athletics at Stony Brook University, I knew that I was becoming a part of something special. The success the University has achieved in just 57 short years is unprecedented. Similarly, this athletics department has made bold strides in a short time — just 15 years as a Division I program. What we have already achieved and what is in place at Stony Brook is a launching pad for future triumphs. I could not be more excited to be a Seawolf.

A key component to our future success here at Stony Brook is you. I invite you to get involved and join us as we work to transform the lives of our student-athletes by helping them realize their dreams. There are so many ways to participate, and together with our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, students, faculty and staff, you can help build this program and make it great. We strive to be the best in everything that we do at Stony Brook, and we intend to deliver a first-class experience for you so that your connection to the University is enhanced through your affiliation with Athletics.
Our future begins now as we prepare for a riveting 2014 football season. Our Seawolves will be a thrilling group to watch, and I urge to you to get your tickets and be a part of the experience at LaValle Stadium. Led by our outstanding head coach Chuck Priore, our team of talented student-athletes will be competing for a Colonial Athletic Association Football championship and a spot in the NCAA Division I Football Championship.
The fun begins on August 28, as we host Bryant University in our football program’s first-ever Thursday night game at 7 pm. We need your support that night, as we aim to kick off the season with a victory. Come early, wear red, enjoy some pregame tailgating, and then support our Seawolves with every ounce of energy you have. We will provide you the best game day experience on Long Island, and our student-athletes and coaches will work their hardest to deliver you a victory.
To purchase tickets and for more information, please visit GoSeawolves.org or call (631) 632-WOLF. Together we can accomplish anything! We will always work hard to represent our community, Long Island and the state of New York so that you will be proud to call yourself a Seawolf.
See you at the games. Go, Seawolves!
