Liberty to Aid Sandy Victims at Saturday’s Game vs. SBU

Football12

The Big South’s top two football teams — the Stony Brook Seawolves and Liberty Flames — will compete at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Saturday, November 10, at 3:30 pm in a game that will determine the outcome of the 2012 Big South Conference Title race.

To add to the excitement Liberty Athletics is running several promotional campaigns to fill the stadium (#FillTheBill) for its final regular season home game. The crowd will aid in the efforts to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy, with Liberty Athletics donating $1 for every fan in attendance at the game. The donated funds will go to Gleaning for the World, a non-profit organization based in Central Virginia. The largest challenge facing the charitable group is getting the necessary funding to transport the supplies it has already gathered to the areas affected by the storm.

Liberty is one of the top-drawing FCS programs in the country and is expecting a record-breaking crowd for this game. For information about promotions and purchasing tickets for the game, visit the Flames Ticket Office website or contact the Flames Ticket Office at (434) 582-SEAT.

For Seawolves fans who can’t attend, the game will be televised on ESPN3 and MASN and broadcast on WUSB 90.1 FM and GoSeawolves.org. A win over Liberty would give Stony Brook its second straight outright Big South title and an automatic bid to the Division I Football Championship. The Seawolves last defeated Liberty for the Big South title, 41-31, at LaValle Stadium in 2011.
