Junior Jeff Tundo scored four goals and Sean Brady made 11 saves to lead the Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team to its third America East Championship with a 14-8 win over Albany. The Seawolves receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and face No. 2 Johns Hopkins in the first round of the Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship. They travel to Baltimore to face the Blue Jays on Sunday, May 13, at 3 pm on ESPNU.
Stony Brook will make its second appearance in three years in the tournament. Redshirt freshman Mike Rooney, the America East Rookie of the Year, led the team with 33 goals and 45 points. Junior Jeff Tundo talled 16 goals and 26 assists.
The winner of Stony Brook-Johns Hopkins will face Lehigh-Maryland in the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 19, at Navy.
