Stony Brook baseball alum Tom Koehler, recently called up from the minors to pitch long relief for the Florida Marlins, saw success in his first outing, hurling 3 1/3 innings in back-to-back games against the Cincinnati Reds. The 6’3″ righty surrendered only one run while recording three strikeouts.
Koehler, a native of New Rochelle, LI, graduated from Stony Brook University in 2008 and has worked his way up through the Marlins system. His lone start of the 2012 season was against the New York Mets, in which he went 5.0 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 6 hits, striking out 3 and walking none.
