Storm Large brings her vibrant cabaret show to Staller Center’s Recital Hall at Stony Brook University on Saturday, November 14, at 8 pm. Music fans of all genres will enjoy her tapestry of songs and stories based on her latest album, Le Bonheur (French for “the happiness”).
Storm has sung Kurt Weill songs at Carnegie Hall, led the band Pink Martini as a co-singer at the Hollywood Bowl, and captured sublime and subversive interpretations of the American Songbook in Le Bonheur. Audiences will enjoy her collection of love songs, along with covers of Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Black Sabbath and Jacques Brel, among others.
Playing with Storm is her band, also named Le Bonheur. James Beaton is her musical director and pianist, underplaying while she tells her stories; Matthew Brown is on bass; Greg Eklund on drums and Scott Weddle is the guitarist.
Tickets are $38 at www.stallercenter.com or call the Staller Center Box Office at (631) 632-ARTS.
The Box Office is open for sales Monday through Saturday from 12 pm to 6 pm and one hour before performances.
