“Stony Brook Secrets” on View at SAC Gallery

Stony brook secrets 2 1

Stony Brook Secrets 2Stony Brook senior Ed Arzomand has been working on a project called “Stony Brook Secrets,” which is now on display in the Student Activities Center Art Gallery through March 29. It is based on the ongoing community mail art project project PostSecret created by Frank Warren, in which people mail in their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard.

Members of the Stony Brook University community have spent the last month sharing their secrets, which range from admissions of guilt, criminal activity, hopes, sexual conduct, dreams, fears and more. More than 900 “secrets” have been gathered and are now on display at SAC Gallery.

By sharing the secrets, members of the community have an opportunity to read all of the anonymous secrets and build a sense of community and awareness. It is an opportunity for people to see that they are not alone in the feelings or experiences that they may share, while also allowing them to discover what resources exist if they are in need of help.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 5 pm to 10 pm, with additional hours on Wednesdays from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm (Campus Life Time).
