For one electrifying night on Sunday, February 27, at 7:00 pm, Savion Glover takes over Staller Center’s Main Stage with “SoLo in TiME,” featuring the tap artistry of Glover, fellow “hoofer” Marshall Davis Jr., trumpeter Mark Ingraham, and Flamenkina—a trio of musicians including Carmen Estevez on percussion, Francesco Beccaro on bass, and Gabriel Hermida on guitar.
“SoLo in TiME” features Glover using tap as sound, and sound as dance. The dancing and the music celebrate flamenco as the centerpiece.
Savion Glover is a Tony Award winner. Broadway and film credits include The Tap Dance Kid; Black and Blue; Jelly’s Last Jam; Bring In da Noise, Bring In da Funk; the movie Tap starring Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr.; and Spike Lee’s Bamboozled. He was tap choreographer for the Academy Award winning 2006 Warner Brothers release Happy Feet.
Glover has dazzled audiences with his astounding technique, fancy footwork and blinding speed, all of which make him one of the most virtuosic choreographers and performers working today.
Tickets are $42. Order online at stallercenter.com or call the Staller Center Box Office at (631) 632-ARTS.
