New Music for Strings — a collaboration between faculty from the Department of Music at Stony Brook University and faculty at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark — held its first festival last summer in Denmark, bringing together highly skilled performers and composers from both sides of the Atlantic to work with top faculty.
This summer, New Music for Strings 2017 features a concert series on Long Island and in New York City that showcases a roster of world-class musicians alongside accomplished student participants, ranging from members of the Emerson String Quartet, violinist Mari Kimura, and faculty from Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus to graduate students from top conservatories and universities in the U.S. and Europe.
