Upcoming New Music for Strings Festival

New music strings

New Music StringsNew Music for Strings — a collaboration between faculty from the Department of Music at Stony Brook University and faculty at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark — held its first festival last summer in Denmark, bringing together highly skilled performers and composers from both sides of the Atlantic to work with top faculty.

This summer, New Music for Strings 2017 features a concert series on Long Island and in New York City that showcases a roster of world-class musicians alongside accomplished student participants, ranging from members of the Emerson String Quartet, violinist Mari Kimura, and faculty from Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus to graduate students from top conservatories and universities in the U.S. and Europe.

Summer 2017 Events

Thursday, June 22, 7.30 pm: Recital by Three Village Chamber Players and Stony Brook University graduate students at Mount Sinai Congregational Church, Mount Sinai, Long Island

Saturday, June 24, 6 pm: Recital by faculty and students from Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, Denmark, and Stony Brook University at All Soul’s Episcopal Church, Stony Brook, Long Island

Tuesday, June 27, 8 pm: Carnegie Hall Gala Concert at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, Manhattan

Wednesday, June 28, 9.30 pm: NMFS Recital at National Sawdust, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Thursday, June 29, 7.30 pm: Collaborative Recital by Yarn/Wire, The Parhelion Trio and Three Village Chamber Players at Staller Center Recital Hall, Stony Brook University

Saturday, July 1, 8 pm: Stony Brook Gala Concert at Staller Center Recital Hall, Stony Brook University
