Presented in conjunction with the Stony Brook Film Festival, “Faces & Places: Photographs from the Kellerman Family” features more than 60 color and black-and-white photographs by well-known documentary and fine art photographers.
The exhibition opens Thursday, July 19, at the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery, located on the first floor of Staller Center, with a reception the following evening, Friday, July 20, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The gallery is open weekday afternoons from 12 pm to 4 pm and every evening of the Film Festival, which runs from July 19 through July 28 at Staller Center. The exhibition will open again on August 27 and run through September 27. Hours in August are by appointment. Admission is free.
Donated to Stony Brook University by alumna Katherine King Kellerman ’94 and her husband Andrew Kellerman, the collection focuses on striking images of people and places from the 1960s through the present.
“Faces & Places” includes work by renowned photographers such as Irina Ionesco, Joyce Tenneson and Ralph Gibson, who capture dramatic light and shadow play across people, objects and architecture. Iconic sports photographer Walter Iooss frames famous athletes at rest and in action. With a photojournalist’s eye, James Nachtwey, Donna Ferrato and Kristin Capp show the beauty and humanity of people around the world. Together, these and other captivating images reveal new insights and perspectives through a photographic lens.
