Chinese Opera Performs at Wang Center April 3

Chinese opera 1

chinese-operaThe Chinese Opera retells Little Red Riding Hood, the European fairy tale of a young girl’s journey to grandma’s house through scenes from eight classic Beijing operas.

Accompanied by a seven-person traditional Chinese orchestra, Chinese Theatre Works‘ Little Red Riding Hood melds Western acting and narrative with breathtaking stage acrobatics and martial arts, music, dance, pantomime, stylized face painting, and elaborate hand-sewn silk costumes. Don’t miss this production that re-imagines the confrontation between the Big Bad Wolf and a scrappy, spunky Little Red at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater on Sunday, April 3, at 3:00 pm.

Reservations are required. Call (631) 632-4400 or e-mail wangcenter@stonybrook.edu. Tickets are $35 VIPs (reserved priority seating), $20 general, $15 seniors, and $10 students.
