Sunday, February 28
Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy: Masters of the Fiddle come to Staller Center’s Main Stage on Sunday, February 28, at 7:00 pm. MacMaster and Leahy are the power couple of the Celtic fiddling world. MacMaster’s flamboyant skill and trademark Cape Breton fiddling and step dancing are matched by the musical wizardry of her equally celebrated husband, Canadian fiddler, Donnell Leahy. They will be joined by Erin Leahy and Mac Morin on pianos.
MacMaster has a sound that has resonated with world audiences through ten albums, multiple gold sales figures, and numerous Juno awards (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy). She has appeared on cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s album, Songs of Joy & Peace, performed with Paul Simon, Faith Hill, Bela Fleck, and Luciano Pavarotti, among others.
Donnell Leahy is the leader of the family group, Leahy, which has performed at Staller Center to great acclaim in past seasons. The eight brothers and sisters that make up Leahy are one of Canada’s most sought after exports. They tour frequently and have had three PBS television specials.
