Premieres 2012 post card front

For 25 years, professional composers from all over the country have been invited to compose music for the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players for its annual Premieres! Concert. The series has inspired the creation of more than 90 works. The Contemporary Chamber Players, with Director Eduardo Leandro, will perform its 25th Premieres! Concert on Thursday, November 15, at 8 pm in Staller Center’s Recital Hall. Admission is free. A second concert will be held at Symphony Space in New York City on Friday, November 16, at 7:30 pm. Free tickets are available at the Box Office.

Called “a small army of musicians who demonstrate consistent accomplishment” by The New York Times, this year’s program will consist of works by Mark Gustavson, Turning (2012), for bass clarinet, percussion, piano and contrabass;

Alex Temple, World (2012), for piano, percussion and electronics; Judith Shatin, Vayter un Vayter (Further and Further) (2012), for bass singer, clarinet, cello and piano; and Du Yun, Keep Something Broken (2012), for flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, tuba, percussion, violin and cello.
