Wolfie is officially off the market.
Seven years after meeting at Stony Brook, Wolfie mascot alumnus, Oscar Icochea ‘15 and former Dance Team President, Kim Pacia ‘15 are engaged – and the proposal was everything you would imagine from this loyal Seawolf couple.
When Kim returned to campus this March, she thought it was to speak with students about her career path. Oscar, however, had other plans in mind.
With a little help from Athletics, the stage was set and as Kim entered the Island Federal Arena, she was in for a monumental surprise. Oscar had arranged a slideshow with photos of their time together at Stony Brook and a special message and it all ended with the best surprise of all: a marriage proposal.
“I was completely surprised and didn’t realize what was happening until the slideshow came on with pictures of us,” said Kim. “It was extremely well planned and so thoughtful.”
Oscar, knew that Stony Brook had to be included in setting the stage for his proposal, because from the moment of their 2012 chance meeting in the SAC, the university played a big role in their new life together. From athletics events to student government meetings, the couple lived and breathed SBU. The couple also made lifelong friends at Stony Brook, many of whom will be there to celebrate with them on their wedding day.
“Stony Brook shaped not only our lives then, it shaped our futures.”
