Why I Give to My Alma Mater: Sean Hoffman ’12, ’14

I give back to Stony Brook University because I feel gratitude for the opportunities the University has provided for me. Both personally and professionally, Stony Brook has allowed me to learn, grow and discover. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and am also a proud alumnus of the Honors College and the Spirit of Stony Brook Athletic Bands. Throughout my time as a student I was fortunate to have wonderful experiences, from the guidance and mentorship of faculty and staff, to cheering on the Seawolves at every game I could possibly attend.

As a higher education professional, I believe wholeheartedly in the mission of public education and am privileged to be able to support Stony Brook University in providing an accessible world class education. I hope that my contributions can help to afford students with the same opportunity for academic, personal, and professional growth that I was given by so many before me. I am excited and optimistic for the future of Stony Brook University, and I look forward to continuing to give back to my alma mater for many years to come.
