Why I Give to My Alma Mater: Michal Skowronski ’16

To invest in Stony Brook is to give back to the university that offered so much to my development and provided opportunities for my future. I am investing not just in the school but in the students that go there, in the hope that they will benefit however the University utilizes the donation.

My wish for the gift is to improve at least one student’s experience at Stony Brook. A student’s experience is the true representation of the University’s success and thus improving its reputation. After attending the University for five years studying engineering, I would like this to go towards the facilities at the Department of Engineering. Aimed at sustainable and renewable technologies it would encourage the forward-minded generation in Stony Brook to get involved and push the faculty to develop their curriculum for this wave of students. A greater focus towards developing the technical skills of students would result in more well-rounded students and prepare them for their careers in the future.

This gift is my way of contributing to Stony Brook and it makes me feel good to know I can indirectly help the students and institution better themselves. My donation makes me feel like I have something invested in the University and that I can see bright minds develop. I hope to meet future Stony Brook alumni and share the experiences we have had during our time at Stony Brook.
