Stony Brook University to Host Fourth Annual ‘Giving Day’ on April 27

Giving Day

Giving day 1920x1080 1On April 27, 2022, Stony Brook University will host its fourth annual “Giving Day,” an opportunity for the Stony Brook community to come together over the course of one day to lend its support to initiatives and programs across campus.

In 2021, more than 3,700 alumni, faculty and staff, students, parents, grateful patients, and friends participated in Giving Day. Together, they contributed nearly $500,000 to more than 90 university and Stony Brook Medicine programs. The support generated during this year’s Giving Day will provide additional, much-needed aid for Stony Brook’s students, athletes, faculty and patients.

“The Stony Brook community’s overwhelming response to Giving Day reflects a deep commitment to helping others and building a better world,” President Maurie McInnis said. “I am inspired by the sense of compassion, optimism, and resolve I see every day on our campus.”

An estimated 90 programs across campus will be participating in this year’s 24-hour fundraising drive.

“We could not ask for a more engaged network of support, as the Stony Brook community continues to extend their generosity,” said Justin Fincher, vice president of advancement and executive director of the Stony Brook Foundation. “Every gift has made a difference. I am hopeful that this year we will make an even greater impact together.”

Follow along throughout the day on Stony Brook’s Giving Day website, where all gifts made will be tracked in real-time, or check out Giving Day on social by searching #SBUGivingDay.
