Stony Brook Professor Featured in NPR Article About the Causes of Depression

Stony Brook Professor Turhan Canli’s research on depression is highlighted in the October 25 NPR article “Could Depression Be Caused By An Infection?

An associate professor of psychology and radiology, Canli published a paper in 2014 in the journal Biology of Mood and Anxiety Disorders asserting that depression should be thought of as an infectious disease. His findings provide a foundation for some of the modern theories presented in the NPR article.
