Message from the SOM Alumni President — Spring 2018

Lisa 300

The School of Medicine Alumni Board would like to proudly announce the new School of Medicine Alumni Board President, Lisa Vignogna-Barlas, MD ‘96.

Dear Fellow Alumni,

Lisa Vignogna-Barlas, MD ‘96

You’ll see by the stories included in this edition of Medicine Today that Stony Brook Medicine is forging exciting new research, fostering active community involvement and gathering support for our medical students by promoting our Stethoscope Drive.

It is my goal to further outreach to our alumni by initiating programs that bring them closer to the School of Medicine, closer to the students and, equally important, closer to each other. In addition to the Stethoscope Drive, we’d like to begin a “Dine with the Doctors” series, where local doctors volunteer to host a student or group of students for dinner at a restaurant. Our students are outstanding and have a lot to share with and learn from our alumni. And stay tuned — we’re also planning a social event for our alumni and their families. The details will be forthcoming. If you haven’t attended your class reunion and your milestone year is coming up, please be sure to reach out to Mary Hoffmann at Mary.Hoffmann@stonybrook.edu.

Thank you for your continued support of The Stony Brook School of Medicine. We encourage input from all of our alumni. Please feel free to contact me anytime with your ideas about making the Alumni Board work better or you, for students and for our School of Medicine. I can be contacted at lvignogna@gmail.com.

Best Regards,

Lisa Vignogna-Barlas, MD ‘96
President, Stony Brook School of Medicine Alumni Board
