Sophomore Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) was named to the NFCA All-Region Third-Team (Mid-Atlantic) as a utility player and pitcher for her outstanding 2018 season.
Rahrich becomes the 12th Stony Brook player in program history to be named to an All-Region Team. She started in all 46 games for the Seawolves, hitting a team best .453 added 10 doubles, seven home runs, and 30 RBI on the season. Rahrich also tossed a team-high 164 innings in the circle, recording a 3.57 ERA in the process and had a 15-11 record with 16 complete games.
In America East Conference play, Rahrich was 6-3 with a 3.34 ERA and hit a conference high of .500 at the plate. She led the conference in batting average (.453), slugging percentage (.676), on base percentage (.534), and total bases (92). The sophomore was top five for RBI (30), hits (62), doubles, (10), and home runs (7). Rahrich also led America East pitchers with six shut outs, 15 wins, and 111 strike outs.
Rahrich was named America East Pitcher of the Week two times and Player of the Week four times. She was honored as the America East Player of the Year as well as being selected to the America East First-Team All-Conference at pitcher and utility player. Melissa was named to the America East All-Tournament team for her performance at the America East Championships. She hit .700 for the tournament, with a 1.110 slugging percentage, a 1.53 ERA, and a 2-2 record.
Rahrich also entered the Stony Brook record book this past season, ranking second in single season batting average (.453) and tied at ninth for single season hits (62). Her .453 batting average is currently ranked seventh nationally.
