Sophomore Kiani Kerstetter (Cardiff, Calif.) and junior LeAnne Sakowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) each earned weekly conference honors this week after
leading the Seawolves to victories against UMass Lowell and New Hampshire. Kerstetter was named America East Defensive Specialist of the Week, while Sakowicz earned Setter of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Kerstetter helped Stony Brook hold opponents to a league-best .083 hitting percentage while averaging 5.42 digs per set. The Cardiff, California native notched 38 digs in the weekend, giving her a total of 244 for the season so far.
Sakowicz notched 26 assists against Umass Lowell as well as 44 assists and 18 digs in the 3-1 win over New Hampshire while pacing Stony Brook to a league-best .295 hitting percentage in the 2-0 weekend.
The Seawolves return to the court Friday at 6:30 pm, when the team is home against Albany.
