Stony Brook alumna Dr. Kaedrea Jackson-Brown ’01 will share advice during a panel discussion for students as part of Black History Month on campus.
Originally from Jamaica, Dr. Jackson immigrated to the United States at the age of 7. After receiving a degree in biochemistry from Stony Brook University, she completed an MD-MPH program at SUNY Downstate Medical School followed by a combined emergency medicine-internal medicine residency at Kings County Hospital/SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Jackson currently serves as Associate Director of Kings County Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine–a large, urban, level 1 trauma center. She played an integral role in the development of the department’s observation unit and oversees its operations and expansion. In her academic role as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Dr. Jackson is dedicated to the education and mentorship of medical students, residents and physician assistant students.
As a way of giving back to her alma mater and educating the next generation of Stony Brook University students, Dr. Jackson will share details of her professional and personal journey, along with her advice for success, during the “Black Women’s Weekend: Career Women’s Expo.” Joining her are three other distinguished panelists in the fields of medicine, entertainment and academia.
“Black Women’s Weekend: Career Women’s Expo” takes place on Thursday, February 18, from 7 pm to 9:30 pm in the SSO Lounge of Roth Cafeteria on campus. No RSVP required.
