Money raised includes over $92,000 for the College of Arts and Sciences and their programs.

The Stony Brook community came together on April 27 to support more than 100 programs across campus, including scholarships for students in-need. In the spirit of philanthropy, a record number of 2,988 students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends near and far contributed 3,536 gifts totaling more than $369,000.

“It is amazing to see the community come together around our fourth annual Giving Day, and it fills me with tremendous appreciation and pride,” said President Maurie McInnis. “I want to extend my thanks to our alumni, students, friends, faculty, staff, and everyone else who came forward to support Stony Brook University on this important day. Your generosity and spirit have made a huge difference.”

In total, donors from 15 countries and 41 states lent their support. Many of the contributions were inspired by the 19 matching gift opportunities and 38 donor participation challenges put forth by generous alumni, friends and faculty.

“Giving Day is so much more than a 24-hour fundraising drive,” said Justin Fincher, vice president for Advancement and executive director of the Stony Brook Foundation. “It is about galvanizing our community in a coordinated way and demonstrating, in real time, the incredible collective impact of each and every gift. I am honored to be a part of such a supportive and generous community.”

There are still opportunities to contribute to Giving Day 2022 through May 2. Please visit the Giving Day page to make a gift.
