Dario Gonzales, MD ’79

2002 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient

Dario Gonzales, MD graduated from Stony Brook’s School of Medicine in 2002. When faced with tragedy, Dr. Gonzalez has shown himself to be a true hero. He has been called to aid others through such events as the Oklahoma City bombing and the attacks on September 11, 2001 and has responded without hesitation.

Dario Gonzales has worked as medical director of the Office of Emergency Management and medical team manager for New York City’s Task Force One, an urban search and rescue team. Through his work, he has helped innumerable people, offering medical treatment and developing emergency responses to potential bioterrorism threats. He has exemplified the relentless human spirit through his strength, courage, outstanding service, and leadership through national crises.

It is a privilege of Stony Brook University School of Medicine to recognize him as a 2002 Distinguished Alumni Award.
