Alum Receives Second Consecutive Grammy Nomination

R SavinoRichard Savino, a Stony Brook University alumnus (Doctor of Musical Arts ‘92, Guitar Performance), who also completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Stony Brook, has been nominated for a second consecutive Grammy Award.

This year’s nomination is in the Best Small Ensemble Performance category for conducting El Mundo’s The Kingdoms of Castille, the only nominated work representing Latin/Hispanic music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Winners will be announced at the 54th Grammy Awards ceremony held on February 12, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.

Savino is a professor of music at California State University, Sacramento, and is a lecturer and instructor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
